(This review contains some spoilers so if you still haven’t seen the movie yet, I suggest you stop reading this now… or, whatever.)

Today, let’s talk about the latest franchise of Marvel’s X-Men. Last Sunday, I was invited by 2 of my high school friends to watch the movie. I’d have to say, X-Men: First Class was entertaining. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid, I got tons of collectible cards, and I never missed an episode when they were still airing the Uncanny X-Men. I even bought a dvd compilation of the series.

Now, I’m here to point out some concerns from the people who have seen the film. I heard a lot of different opinions about the movie and here are some of them:

*X-Men: First Class came out strong though the cast aren’t the usual Hollywood big shots.

*A cameo appearance from Hugh Jackman was unexpected. I heard a lot of excited giggles from the audience after the scene.

*I really appreciated how they managed to give the movie a 1960’s feel.

*It was awesome seeing how Xavier and Magneto came together as a team and fell apart because of their differences.

*I think a lot of comic book fans would agree with me on this: It’s not smart to enlist Havoc as one of the first members of the X-Men. For those of you who don’t have an idea with what I’m trying to say, Havoc, or Alex Summers, is Cyclops’ younger brother.

*I think the movie was a bit long for the non-X-Men fans.

awesome flicks (vol.2)

Let’s get down to business, shall we? Today I’m here to scrutinize Thor. NOT! Who am I kidding, the movie is friggin’ awesome! I wasn’t expecting to watch it in 3D because I don’t welcome the thought of it being less cooler in a normal cinema, but when we arrived at the movie house, they’re only showing it in 3D so might as well go with the flow. The first few moments in Asgard was amazing. I knew it to be very promising. But what’s awesome is when he’s on earth, trying to be mortal and all. I didn’t expect to get a few laughs from the God of thunder himself. Natalie Portman is as charming as always.

I’ve bee noticing that a lot of film adaptations from comic books and graphic novels are have been bombarding the big screen lately. And I heard there’s more to come. The Dark Knight rises, Green Lantern, Captain America, X-Men: First Class, Avengers and a whole lot more. To start off with Thor, I think we’ll have a great year ahead of us comic book geeks!

crazy human torch news

Have you heard the news?Marvel is killing Johnny Storm(a.k.a Human Torch) of the Fantastic Four.A lot of fans are definitely not happy about this.I don’t know what the guys at Marvel are planning but killing a very old character like him is a drastic move.Debuted in November 1961,Fantastic Four is a team of scientist that got their powers during a scientific mission. The team is composed of 4 individuals,Mr. Fantastic(Reed Richards),Invisible Woman(Sue Storm),Human Torch(Johnny Storm) and the Thing(Ben Grimm).

I have a few theories myself on why they decided to end Johnny’s character but i have to say i still think this move will ignite hundreds of debates in the geek world, the world where i belong. For now i’ll keep my mouth shut and wait for the inevitable.haha.
