The hungry travelers

Like i said, “I will be back”, and I did came back. My 7 day vacation in KL and SG was a blast though i wasn’t able to shop that much. Instead, i feast on some of Malaysia and Singapore’s best restaurants. I devoured nasi lemak, chicken rice, bakute, chicken wings, chicken rendang, mi goreng, teppanyaki, steak, satay and a whole lot more. I probably gain weight after my week long vacation.

Aside from the food, I got to travel a lot like a travel and living show host and take pictures of the places.

First meal in Kuala Lumpur

 Teppanyaki is the shiznit!

This is the place where we ate mi goreng.

At JUSCO. Near our place.

Gotta fight to eat! (Singapore)

Bakute.

Jalan Alor’s famous chicken wings. Childhood memories relived here.

The LEGENDARY steamboat.

Rendezvous Steakhouse.

Food Republic at Vivo City, Singapore.

You guys all know the awesome tv series Game of Thrones, and how it was adapted from the fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. I myself got hooked as well. The screen adaptation of the book is amazing, i agree. But the book, oh man! You got to turn the page and expect something’s going down every time. The twists and turns of the story is EPIC. I’m not a big fan of fantasy novels but A Song of Ice and Fire caught me off guard. The characters are vividly pictured in a different shade, contradicting and compatible personalities that will leave you the choice of whose side you’re on. Hats of to Mr. George R.R.Martin for letting me experience first hand the seven kingdoms of Westeros.

awesome flicks (vol.3)

(This review contains some spoilers so if you still haven’t seen the movie yet, I suggest you stop reading this now… or, whatever.)

Today, let’s talk about the latest franchise of Marvel’s X-Men. Last Sunday, I was invited by 2 of my high school friends to watch the movie. I’d have to say, X-Men: First Class was entertaining. I’ve been a fan since I was a kid, I got tons of collectible cards, and I never missed an episode when they were still airing the Uncanny X-Men. I even bought a dvd compilation of the series.

Now, I’m here to point out some concerns from the people who have seen the film. I heard a lot of different opinions about the movie and here are some of them:

*X-Men: First Class came out strong though the cast aren’t the usual Hollywood big shots.

*A cameo appearance from Hugh Jackman was unexpected. I heard a lot of excited giggles from the audience after the scene.

*I really appreciated how they managed to give the movie a 1960’s feel.

*It was awesome seeing how Xavier and Magneto came together as a team and fell apart because of their differences.

*I think a lot of comic book fans would agree with me on this: It’s not smart to enlist Havoc as one of the first members of the X-Men. For those of you who don’t have an idea with what I’m trying to say, Havoc, or Alex Summers, is Cyclops’ younger brother.

*I think the movie was a bit long for the non-X-Men fans.

Man VS Fish

We found ourselves a new hobby.

Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve been fascinated with the art of fishing. I grew up near a river where a lot of locals’ favorite past time is fishing. Early in the morning, people gather by the riverside with their rods and baits and spend the whole day fishing. Whoever catches the biggest fish goes home with a bragging right and a delicious dinner. There even came a time when fishing was so big, they had to organize a tournament that was held in Tabangao, Batangas City.¬†Complete with a committee, boats and coast guards, the tournament pushed through. The contest was sponsored by San Miguel Beer and people around the country joined.

Then, we moved to a new house. I’ve forgotten everything about it. My memories were triggered by a friend of mine a few days ago when he asked me to join him on a fishing trip near Philippine Ports Authority. Our first fishing trip and both of us caught a fish. After that, a lot of our buddies became interested with it and wanted to join the next fishing trip. I even asked my brother from Canada to bring our father’s fishing rod when he goes home for his vacation this coming July.

These pictures were taken in during our fishing trips in Pinamucan, Batangas and near PPA.

bonfire

Back to reality. Last weekend was a blast. My energy was maxed out because I did a lot of stuff, but it was fun though. We went to my good friend Aeibie’s place in Mabini, Batangas and enjoyed the bonfire by the beach while we were eating, drinking, listening to some good music and swapping stories.

awesome flicks (vol.2)

Let’s get down to business, shall we? Today I’m here to scrutinize Thor. NOT! Who am I kidding, the movie is friggin’ awesome! I wasn’t expecting to watch it in 3D because I don’t welcome the thought of it being less cooler in a normal cinema, but when we arrived at the movie house, they’re only showing it in 3D so might as well go with the flow. The first few moments in Asgard was amazing. I knew it to be very promising. But what’s awesome is when he’s on earth, trying to be mortal and all. I didn’t expect to get a few laughs from the God of thunder himself. Natalie Portman is as charming as always.

I’ve bee noticing that a lot of film adaptations from comic books and graphic novels are have been bombarding the big screen lately. And I heard there’s more to come. The Dark Knight rises, Green Lantern, Captain America, X-Men: First Class, Avengers and a whole lot more. To start off with Thor, I think we’ll have a great year ahead of us comic book geeks!
